New in-depth guides cover characters, animation, map scenes, exporting, MMV workflows, and old .bsproj projects.
- Eight step-by-step guides at /guides go beyond the User Guide, with tips, common mistakes, and fixes for each task.
- The User Guide ends with a Go Deeper list, and the homepage and site footer link to the guides.
- The MMV Hall of Fame no longer shows placeholder text for videos without editorial notes.
- October 2026
Chat balloons now fit their text, and resizing a balloon no longer stretches the words.
- New balloons size themselves to what you type: a quick "ok" gets a small balloon, and longer messages wrap and grow it. Turn off Fit to Text in the chat balloon properties to set the size yourself.
- Dragging a balloon's resize handles on the canvas changes the balloon's size while the text stays the same size.
- Balloons in projects you saved earlier keep the size they had.

Chat balloon text can now be any color. Thanks to Jesse for the suggestion!
- A new Text Color setting in the chat balloon properties offers one-click White and Black presets plus a color wheel for any other shade.
- Dark text stays readable on light balloons, and the chosen color is saved with your project and carried into exports.

Fixed sprite-sheet exports getting stuck on the loading bar. Thanks to bea for reporting the bug!
- Large character sprite sheets now finish exporting, with progress updates and a working Cancel button.
- The downloaded ZIP keeps every animation state and frame, including characters with thousands of frames.

Fixed the Face Mixer: faces show up in the Result box again, and both previews match what lands on the canvas.
- The Result box was showing an empty square for every face. Faces are visible there again.
- The crop area now shows the face at the same size the crop actually uses, so the red lines cut where you expect instead of slicing through the face.
- Each Result piece is now the cropped face itself, positioned against the ghost head exactly where the finished custom face will sit — dragging a piece or typing X and Y moves it to the spot you see.
- The Add Face picker scrolls with a modern scrollbar instead of the old chrome.
- Picking a color for a face further down the list works again: the color menu used to open pinned to the top of the picker once you scrolled, out of reach. It now opens right at the face you clicked.
- Face thumbnails in the picker now load through the same packed pipeline as the Thumbnail Gallery, so scrolling quickly no longer leaves broken-image squares behind.

Added undo and redo across the whole editor.
- Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes — Command works on macOS. Undo and Redo also sit at the top of the Layers menu, labeled with the action they will step through.
- Covers editing end to end: adding, removing, cloning, reordering, renaming, grouping, visibility, drag-and-drop, gallery item placement, imports, rasterize and explode, item colors, filters, properties, and the canvas color.
- A whole drag counts as one undo step, as does a held arrow key or a typing burst in a properties field.
- History keeps up to 100 steps; opening or starting a project begins a fresh history.

Added layer multi-select, your own layer groups, and drag-and-drop layer organizing.
- Ctrl-click (Command-click on macOS) toggles layers into a multi-selection in the Layer Panel and directly on the canvas; Shift-click selects a range of rows.
- Group Selected Layers and Ungroup Layers buttons in the Layer Panel build and dissolve your own layer groups; double-click a group to rename it.
- Clicking a group selects every layer inside it, so a single drag moves the whole group — on the canvas a combined box outlines the multi-selection.
- Layer Panel rows now drag and drop: reorder layers, move them into or out of groups, drop onto a collapsed group's header to file layers inside, or drag a group by its header to move it whole.
- Remove Layer and the Delete key now remove every selected layer, not just the primary one.

Expanded Maple Maps to complete GMS v83 with animation controls and map layer groups.
- The Maple Maps browser now covers the complete GMS v83 map set, organized by continent, with a modernized details panel.
- Loaded maps arrive as collapsible layer groups in the Layer Panel, with group visibility and stack-order controls.
- Map animation controls let animated backgrounds, objects, and effects play in the editor.

Fixed invisible gallery tiles across selected content versions.
- Gallery and Map Place duplicates now prefer the newest selected asset whose published thumbnail contains visible pixels, instead of allowing a transparent 1×1 link placeholder to hide a usable copy.
- MapleSEA 226 Map assets were regenerated from their real Back, Object, Tile, Effect, Map Helper, and World Map sources under a corrected immutable release prefix.
- The quality decision comes from a compact pixel-derived index over every active release and applies consistently to startup catalogs and lazily loaded categories.
- July 2026
Fixed invisible map assets in the Taiwan MapleStory 273 content set.
- Hierarchical Map package links now resolve their real Back, Object, Tile, Effect, Map Helper, and World Map pixels instead of transparent placeholders.
- The corrected assets use a new immutable TMS 273 release prefix; the previous published prefix remains unchanged for rollback.
- Map Places and ordinary gallery categories now use regenerated source-client thumbnails and sprites without borrowing pixels from another client.
- Map Places combines repeated map names within the same street, removes duplicate component paths, and shows a larger Orange Mushroom while those components load.
- July 2026
Fixed invisible map assets in the Global MapleStory v269 content set.
- Hierarchical Map package links now resolve their real Back, Object, Tile, Effect, Map Helper, and World Map pixels instead of 1×1 transparent placeholders.
- The corrected assets use a new immutable GMS v269 release prefix; the original published prefix remains unchanged for rollback.
- Gallery searches and on-demand Map Places now show explicit loading or unavailable states instead of reporting a temporary false zero.
- July 2026
Added Global MapleStory v269 assets as a selectable content version.
- The startup Versions tab now includes GMS v269 alongside the six previously published clients.
- The release adds current Global MapleStory character, equipment, skill, effect, map, mob, NPC, pet, and UI variants under an immutable asset prefix.
- Localized catalog names and a deduplicated thumbnail pack load independently from the core sprite release.
- July 2026

Fixed hair drawing over equipped hats in the JMS v402 content set.
- The corrected JMS release preserves each cap's source slot metadata so covered hair sections stay behind the hat.
- Saved projects continue resolving duplicate item IDs from the newest selected version, now backed by corrected JMS metadata.
- The repair updates metadata and release indexes only; sprite pixels and shared atlas pages remain unchanged.
- July 2026
Added Taiwan MapleStory 273 assets as a selectable content version.
- The startup Versions tab now includes corrected TMS 273 alongside v83, v117, corrected v213, and JMS v402.
- TMS-specific character, equipment, skill, effect, map, mob, NPC, pet, and UI variants remain under their own immutable release.
- Shared atlas pages are reused by content hash, while source-local cap slot metadata keeps covered hair sections behind equipped hats.
- July 2026
Fixed hair drawing over equipped hats in the v213 content set.
- The corrected v213 release preserves each cap's source slot metadata so covered hair sections stay behind the hat.
- The repair updates metadata only; sprite pixels, animation states, and atlas placement remain unchanged.
- July 2026
Added Japan MapleStory v402 assets as a selectable content version.
- The startup Versions tab now includes JMS v402 alongside v83, v117, and v213.
- JMS-specific source variants are preserved under their own asset version while shared atlas pages remain deduplicated.
- All published asset versions are selected at startup; newer versions win duplicate IDs in merge order.
- Fixed deployed legacy project imports resolving v213 and JMS v402 catalogs from the app host instead of the asset host.
- Projects with no renderable assets now finish loading after their compatibility warning instead of leaving the progress dialog open.
- July 2026
Added MapleStory v213 assets and made v213 the default content version.
- The startup Versions tab now offers v83, v117, and v213, with v213 selected by default.
- The v213 catalog adds the expanded 2020-era character, equipment, skill, effect, map, mob, NPC, pet, and UI content set.
- Shared lossless WebP pages and compressed manifest bundles reduce duplicate storage and runtime requests.
- July 2026

- New v117 catalog, including Demon Slayer, Mercedes, Phantom, and the Cannoneer-era classes.
- Choose v83, v117, or both from the Versions tab when you start up; when both are enabled, v117 assets take priority.
- Assets are served in compact, fast-loading formats to keep load times low.
