The original tool, and this revival
The original BannedStory was created by ion. It gave MapleStory fans a way to compose characters, dress them, arrange scenes, and create frames for comics and music videos. This site brings that creative workflow back to a modern web browser without requiring Flash.
BannedStory 4 Revived is maintained as a community fan project. Credit for the original tool belongs to ion; the revival adds browser support and continues work on compatibility, assets, and editing features. You can follow that work in the release notes or reach the maintainers through the Contact page.
What you can make
Build a character from a body, head, face, hair, and equipment. Place characters alongside maps, effects, imported pictures, chat balloons, and name tags. Use layers to arrange a scene, change poses and expressions, and export still images or selected animations.
The illustrated user guide walks through a first character and explains the editor’s controls. The editor works best on a desktop browser; the mobile editing experience is still limited.
Keeping old projects usable
The revival can open supported legacy BannedStory project files and save editable projects in its modern format. Compatibility is still being expanded: an older project may refer to an unavailable asset or a feature that does not yet load exactly as it did in Flash.
Keep a copy of your original file before resaving. If a project does not load correctly, the support instructions explain how to report it and what becomes public when you share a file.

This site is unaffiliated with Nexon. MapleStory and its related artwork and assets belong to their respective owners. Using the editor does not grant ownership of, or permission to commercially reuse, those assets, music, or other people’s work.
